OLCHS SPEECH TEAM PREPARES FOR STATE

The Oak Lawn Community High School Speech Team did an outstanding job this week at the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Sectional Tournament at Thornwood High School. The Spartans were champions overall and are advancing five competitors, in seven events, to the IHSA State Tournament in Peoria this weekend.
The sectional placeholders and state qualifiers include: Junior Andrew Green, 3rd place in Extemporaneous Speaking and 2nd place in Original Oratory; Junior Eric Hoppenrath, 2nd Place in Humorous Interpretation and Tournament Champion in Prose Reading; Senior Eric Sequeira, 2nd place in Poetry Reading; Senior Nick Szurgot, Tournament Champion in Informative Speaking; and Senior Maria Grana, Tournament Champion in Special Occasion Speaking.
