Rebels roll to win at SSC bowling meet

Jake Calomino helped lead the T.F. South boys bowling team to a win at the South Suburban Conference tourney Saturday afternoon.

The Rebels beat their closet competitor Bremen by a 5,929-5,760 pin margin. The Rebels were led Calomino, who rolled a 1,275.

The Rebels will be at the Andrew Sectional next Saturday in Orland Park.

"I think we're very prepared for next week," Calomino said.

Zak LaMonte rolled a 1,183 for the Rebels in his six-game total and finished in ninth place. Rebel Tom Kennedy bowled a 1,182 for 10th.

"I feel like we'll definitely make it down to state as a team," LaMonte said. "We bowled good enough today. And if not we have at least three people who could go down there individually."

"I think we're doing real well," T.F. South coach Eric Valiska said. "They have been playing well all year. I told them if they miss something don't worry about it just keep on bowling."

T.F. North placed fourth and was led by Darrel Eaton, who bowled a score of 1,289.

"We did all right," Eaton said. "I wish I would have done better. I wish I would have taken first instead of second. We definitely missed too many spares."

Tinley Park's Bobby Smith won the event with a 1,351.
