SULLY SHUFFLE RAISES $20,000
The success of the first annual Sully Shuffle exceeded everyones expectations. Approximately 500 people participated in the 5K Run/1K walk and approximately 200 people attended the post party. Over 100 OLCHS students and many staff members participated in the run/walk as well as students and staff from Brother Rice, Evergreen Park, Oak Forest and Richards. The race, which honored retired teacher and coach Skip Sullivan, raised over $20,000 for Parkinsons disease research. All money will be donated to the American Parkinsons Disease Association Midwest Chapter. The event was sponsored by the girls basketball program.
Three Oak Lawn teachers and two Oak Lawn students finished in the top two of their age groups. Caitlyn Kean took first place in the female 18 and under category; Katie Gulino took second place in the female 18 and under category; math teacher Jeremey Cryan took second place in the male 19-29 category; social studies teacher Steve Long took second place in the male 30-39 category; and special education teacher Kelly Rumel took second place in the female 40-49 category.
