OAK LAWNS NEW A.D. DWYER LOOKING TO KEEP EXPECTATIONS HIGH
On the heels of Oak Lawn Community High Schools success on the athletic fields with Pat Keeley as athletic director for the past few years who now fills the role as principal at the school, the Spartans were looking for a new man to continue leading athletics to glory. This will be no easy feat for the new athletic director as Oak Lawn enjoyed its most successful year on the playing field in school history last year. However, new athletic director Will Dwyer is hoping to keep the coaches, players and community expecting greatness in the sports arena.
I feel this school is very stable and has limitless potential, and I feel in this position I can do a lot of good for the kids, Dwyer said of his move to Oak Lawn from his role as assistant principal at Rich Central High School. My goals are to support coaches who in turn will support kids. I want to produce an athletic program the community can be proud of and support. I want every athlete at Oak Lawn to be given a chance to rise to their utmost potential. Finally, I love winning, and I want everyone to experience a lot of it.
Dwyer comes in with a strong resume which includes a successful cross country career as a high school and college athlete at Rich East and Augustana College, a degree from Augustana, a masters degree from Governors State University and four years of experience as a teacher and a coach at Rich East.
Through my days as an athlete at Rich East and then working in the athletic department at Rich East and Rich Central, I heard about Oak Lawn and all it offered.
Just a month into the school year, Dwyer got his first taste of Oak Lawns spirit with last weeks homecoming parade, pep rally, and the football teams win against Argo. The night was a success, and Dwyer is looking forward to the football team continuing that success at tonights cross-town rivalry against Richards.
